Sultech has changed elemental sulphur fertilizer. For good.

Introducing SulGro™65, by Sultech: the first commercially available micronized elemental sulphur suspension.

SulGro™65 (0-0-0-65) brings together the best features of ammonium sulphate (AMS) and elemental sulphur fertilizer in one convenient sprayable formulation.

Suspend everything you’ve been led to believe about elemental sulphur fertilizer.

SulGro™65 is the best of both worlds. By micronizing elemental sulphur, soilborne microbes can begin converting the sulphur particles to plant-available sulphate within 7 to 10 days – and provide a steady source of plant-available sulphates throughout the growing season.

SulGro™65 is packaged and applied as a liquid formulation (water suspension) that is safe to handle and store.

The result is a storage-safe, seed-safe, elemental sulphur fertilizer that can match and surpass AMS in a variety of environmental conditions.

Sustainability

Improves soil health. Reduces nutrient losses to local water bodies.

Innovation

Plants take up sulphur from the soil as a sulphate ion via the soil pore water. Fertilizers based on elemental sulphur or thiosulfates must first be oxidized to sulphate for plant uptake and this process relies on microbial activity in soil.

A proprietary process micronizes molten sulphur through a pressure-controlled injection into a proprietary water/dispersant blend – resulting in spherical micronized particles with a median particle diameter of less than 30 microns.

Spray application translates into superior particle dispersion and spacing, resulting in faster microbial conversion and plant uptake. Once in the soil, SulGro™65 creates an environment of available sulphates within a week of application and supports sulphate availability evenly over the growing season.

For the crop producer, this means a faster return on the investment in high-analysis Plant Nutrient Sulphur (PNS).

Performance

Sultech is committed to demonstrating product performance through independent, multi-year, third-party, replicated field research. Trials conducted by Innotech Alberta, Alberta Agriculture & Forestry, Small Plots Inc and New Era Ag Technologies have shown rapid and stable oxidation to plant-available sulphates throughout the growing season. Sultech’s micronized elemental sulphur is found to outperform ammonium sulphate in adverse environmental conditions.

Below are results from the 2019 Canola Trial, involving five Alberta locations using a canola variety and herbicide program recommended for each specific geography. All products were applied as a pre-planting spray or banded at seeding.

Sustainability

Sultech is partnering with the Canadian natural gas sector to meet their sustainable development goals by minimizing the environmental impact of sulphur recovery and disposal. By strategically locating future manufacturing facilities next to sulphur recovery units, Sultech is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of sulphur disposal, while creating a sustainable agricultural fertilizer that improves soil health and reduces nutrient losses to waterways.

Safety, application
and handling

Sulphur has never been safer

By suspending micronized elemental sulphur in an inert solution, SulGro™65 has completely eliminated dusting and combustion concerns. The result is worry-free storage, handling and transportation.

Easy application and integration

SulGro™65 can be safely applied side band or in-furrow using conventional equipment– including over-the-counter nozzles and slotted screens. SulGro™65 is a non-antagonist tank mix partner that may be applied alone or blended with other plant nutrients at variable rates as part of a balanced fertility or soil amendment program.

Flexible application timing

With SulGro™65, you have no shortage of options. It can be applied according to your busy schedule and your fertility program.

Seeding application: SulGro™65 can be safely applied in-furrow, with no risk of seed damage from ammonia toxicity or osmotic pressure.

Foliar application: If there are signs of sulphur deficiency, SulGro™65 can be applied in-crop.

Fall application: Spread out your workload. SulGro™65 can be fall applied so it is in place for spring: without fear of loss over winter.

Soil amendment: SulGro™65 can be used to lower soil pH as part of a soil amendment strategy.
